My name is Serhii Shevchenko and I am passionate about a healthy lifestyle. Also, I’ve been vegan for over 4 years and have 7+ years of experience in sports. But you are probably wondering how my knowledge can help you solve your problems and why you should read my blog at all. To answer this question, I will tell a short story from my life.
It all started when one day I had a neck injury, or a herniated cervical disc to be more precise. Because of this, I couldn’t walk normally for several months and even when I was lying down, I still had a lot of pain, because the disc was pressing on the nearby nerves and my neck, arms, and back were going numb.
After contacting medical advisors, they told me that usually everything should go away on its own in a few weeks. But nothing went away even after a month. When I contacted the doctors again, they told me that in such a situation an operation is needed, but there’s no guarantee that after it everything will be as before and I will be able to do sports normally, etc.
Since I am generally not a supporter of operations, I decided to study this issue on my own, find the cause and, if possible, a treatment that would not include operations and would give the possibility of a full recovery or close to it.
When I started looking for the information, I somehow found information that our diet can significantly affect our health, especially when there is, for example, a lack of certain vitamins, minerals.
One day I started reading about the symptoms of vitamin B12 deficiency and remembered that I had some of the symptoms like fatigue and tingling in my arms and legs before I had my neck injury. But I did not attach enough importance to it.
It is worth mentioning that a few years before the injury, I became a vegan for ethical reasons (I stopped eating products of animal origin such as meat, milk, eggs). As it turned out, I did not switch to this diet quite correctly, because on this diet there is a higher probability that the body will not have enough of certain vitamins. But I didn’t know about that.
In short, my research has led me to believe that maybe if I start eating better to get all the vitamins I need, including vitamin B12, my neck problem will go away on its own, since vitamin B12 is responsible for DNA synthesis, creation of erythrocytes, neurons. You can read more about vitamin B12 in my books.
And I turned out to be right. Literally about a week after I started taking the vitamin B12, my pain started to decrease little by little. Now I can walk normally, do sports, as before, and I did not need to do an operation for this.
Also, the process of finding the information I needed to treat my neck injury helped me find some other useful information too.
I have been interested in the following questions since my youth:
- How to eat right to stay healthy as long as possible. What products and in what quantity should be consumed.
- Do I need to exercise regularly to be healthy and feel good? And if so, how much time do I need to devote to sports and how to train effectively.
- Do our thoughts, mindsets and beliefs affect our health and if so, how can I make my mindset work for me and help me achieve my goals.
I wanted to be healthy, strong, and have enough energy for as long as possible so that when I’m 50-100 years old, I can feel the same as I did when I was 20, so that I can enjoy every moment of my life, do the things I love, and spend as many happy moments as possible with my family and friends.
Before my neck injury, I was looking for answers to these questions, but I didn’t get any significant results. And after my neck injury, I decided to take these questions seriously and began to look for the answers to these questions in relevant books and scientific research.
After studying hundreds of books and scientific articles, I was a bit surprised to find out that, for example, most scientific studies show that the healthiest diet for humans is not the one that is generally accepted in our societies and contains meat and other animal products. In fact, it is quite the opposite. The healthiest diet, according to scientific research, is a plant-based diet (such as a vegan diet) that does not contain meat or animal products.
It turns out that we are trained from childhood to eat meat, despite the fact that it is harmful not only to the animals that are killed because of it, but also to ourselves.
In short, all this led me to the idea that it would be nice to share my knowledge, experience, so that other people did not have to search for the answers to these questions for several years, as I did.
That’s why I’ve made it my mission to share scientific research on topics like health and mindset to help as many people (and animals) as possible. And that’s exactly what I’m going to share on this website to help you improve your health, feel better and live longer.
If you are also looking for the answers to similar questions, I hope this site will help you quickly find the answers and prevent various diseases and other unpleasant situations.
